[REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. CRICKET. AUSTRALIANS V. SURREY. (Received May 22, 1 a.m.) Londox, May 21. The cricket match Australians versus Surrey commenced at Kensington yesterday in the presence of a large number of spectators, who manifested great interest in the proceedings. His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales was present daring a portion of the day. The weather was rather unfavorable for cricket, heavy showers falling at intervals.
The following are the names of the Surrey team :-W, E. Roller, W. W. Read, J. Sinner, E Driver, R. Abel, G. G. Jones, Maurice Read, Henry Wood, G. Lohmann, J. Beaumont, and T. Bowley. The Englishmen wend first to the wickets, and succeeded in putting together 171 runs before they were finally disposed of. The principal scorers were R. Abel, run out, 24 ; W. W. Read, bowled, 14; Maurice Read, bowled, 27; G. Lohmann, 43. Evans took three wickets for five runs, while Garrett disposed of two for three runs. The Australians then went to the wickets, and when the stumps were drawn had made 12 runs with the loss of two wickets. Spofforth, being indisposed, did not take part in the match.
