In the House of Commons last night the bill providing for the temporary renewal of the Arms Act was read for a second time. Mr Parnell and followers voted against the measure. Lord Randolph Churchill has reaffirmed the opinion that royalists would be justified in forcibly resisting a Parliament sitting in Dublin. The weekly returns of the Bank of England were published yesterday. The proportion to liabilities is 37 percent. The total reserve of notes and bullion is £11,100,000. Her Majesty the Queen, accompanied by the Prince of Wales and Princess Beatiice, visited the Colonial Courts of the Exhibition to-day. Sir Phillip Cnnliffo Owen was in attendance, and Messrs Berry and Bosisto conducted her Majesty through the Victorian Court. Sir Alexander Stuart explained the exhibits of the New South Wales section, Sir Arthur Biyth and Sir Win. Davinport the South Australian, and Sir Francis Dillon Bell the New Zealand Court. Her Majesty’s Government has sent a definite reply to Prance stating that as the Colonies are opposed to the cession of the New Hebrides, the status quo ante must be maintained.
