In the Legislative Assembly las! night, the motion brought forward by Mr William Clarke for the imposition of duties on imported produce was negatived by 45 votes to 22. The duties he proposed to levy were as follow .-—Grain and pulse of all kinds, 6d per bushel; barley, 4d per bushel • hay and chaff, 6d per cwt. ; flour and meal, 205.; bran and pollard, Id per bushel; potatoes, Is per ton.
