OBJECTIONS TO VALUATION OF PROPERTY.
MEETING OF THE BOARD OF
REVIEWERS,
A meeting of the Board of Reviewers appointed by Government to hear and determine objections in respect of the valuation of property and acting under “ The Property Assessment Ac£ 1885,” and “The Rating Act, 1882,” and amendments on the same, was held in the Court House, Kumara, at noon to-day. Messrs W. A. Spence (Chairman), Jas. Ciiesney, and H. W. Virtue, the Reviewers, were all present.
Twenty objections were heard, all the objectors’ pleas being that the valuations were excessive. Some Araliuia Riding objectors were present, and their applications were also heard and dealt with. The. following is the list and results:— BOROUGH OF K (UMAR A. James Wylde, Kumara, valuation £5; section 336, Camp street, 20 p._ Valuation upheld. Same; valuation £560; sections 5257, Main street, and section 107 112, 2a. 3r. Bp.—Reduced to £450. Same; valuation, £6O; sections 3439, 41 43, 89-100, Main street, sa. Or. 18p.—Valuation upheld. bame; valuation £10; sections 2430, Main street, 3r. I3p.—Valuation upheld. Same; valuation £3; sections 13 and 14, Main street; 38p. —Valuation upheld. William Nicholson, Kumara; valuation £6O; section 79, Main street; 20p.—Reduced to £SO. Same; valuation £3O; sections 80 and 81, Main street; lr.—Reduced to £7 10s each. D. Cullen and Co., Hokitika; valuation £6O; section 60, Main street, 20 poles.—Reduced to £SO. Patrick Dee, Kumara; va'uafion £140; section 66, Main street, 20 poles.—Reduced to £IOO. Peter Dnngan, Kumara; valuation £35 ; section 188, Tni street, 20 poles. Xo appearance; Valuation upheld, Joachim Hamer, Kumara; valuation £65; section 107, Seddon street, 20 poles.—No appearance; valuation upheld.
Jean Spindeler, Kumara ; valuation, £425 ; section 64, Main street, 20 poles.—No appearance; valuation upheld. 1
John Mulvihill, Kumara-; valuation £330; section 330; section 84, Main street, 20 poles.—Reduced to £250.
Same ; valuation £45 ; section 191, Tui street, 20 poles.—The section was alteicd to 192, and then the valuation was not objected to. Same ; valuation £SO ; sections 193195, Tui street, 2 roods.—Reduced to £3O. ARAHURA RIDING. Edwin Blake, property at Kawhaka ; valuation £s7s.—Mr W. Nicholson appeared for Mr Biake, for whom lie held a power of attorney in the matter; he stated the valuation was excessive. Reduced to £4OO. Denis Maher, Goldsborough ; valuation £340 —Reduced to £2SO. M. H. Fitzgihhon, Goldsborough ; valuation £6o,—Reduced to £SO. W. R. Glover, Stafford Town : valuation £3s.—Valuation upheld.
