The nominations for the city and suburban electorates are fixed for the 12th inst., and the elections take place on the 16th. The country elections are to follow promptly afterwards. The New South Wales Government has received a telegram from the Agent-General informing it that the loan averaged £9l 13s, and that the applications amounted to £11,000,000. (Received October 8, 10 p. m.) The Union Company’s steamship Wakatipu left for Wellington this morning. The Pacific Mail Company’s steamship Zealandia sailed for San Francisco via Auckland this afternoon. She takes £174,500 specie from this port. Mr Dion Boucicault, (he well-known dramatist and actor, left per Zealandia today, Melbourne, October 8, The Union Company’s steamship Ringaiboma arrived this morning from the Bluff. Acting on the initiative of Messrs Synnot Bros., a provisional committee has been formed for the purpose of developing new markets for Australian and New Zealand wool. The names of Sir Julius Vogel and Mr Douglas M'Lean appear on the Committee.
