Lord Carington was entertained at a farewell banquet last evening, at the Beaconsfield Club. The Agents-Gen-eral for the various colonies were among the guests. Lord Carington, in his speech in reply to the toast of the evening, referring to the colonies, eulogised their recent offers of aid to the British Government and said that the lion’s cubs had proved themselves worthy offsprings of the Mother Country. Lord Rosebery also spoke expatiatedly about the desirability and advantages of Federation. Sir Saul Samuel, in replying to the toast of the AgentsGeneral, welcomed Lord Carington as the new Governor of Now South Wales. (Received September 12, noon.) Berlin, September 11.
