(Received June 12, 10.15 p.m.) r London, June 12. The Queen is expected to leave Balmoral for Windsor immediately. (Received June 13, 1.30 a.m.) Later, The Times this morning states that her Majesty the Queen has declined to accept, the resignation of Mr Gladstone ami his colleagues widicml being furnished with further reasons for their retirement.

Tenders for the loan of £IOO,OOO, at 4 per cent., for the Greymouth Harbour Board were opened to-day, when the total amount tendered for was found to be £276,000. Tenders at £95 10s will receive 36 per cent, of application; above that, in full. Tenders for the Westport Harbour loan of £150,000, at 4 per cent., were also opened, the amount of subscriptions being £302,000. Tenders for the latter, at £95 10s, received 98 per cent, j above that, in full. (Received June 13, 1.30 a.m.) Cairo, June 12. Information from Port Said states that a barge has been sunk in the Suez Canal, and traffic will probably be blocked for a fortnight before the obstruction can be removed. The French war ship Renard has been lost at Obock, a French ptssession in the Gulf of Aden. The cholera has entirely ceased at Marseilles. June 9. In the House of Commons to-day Sir Michael Hicks-Beach’s motion condemning the Budget proposals of the Government came on for discussion. Mr Gladstone said the Budget question would mean the life or death of the Government, Mr Childers, Chancellor of the Exchequer, charged the Tories with opposing the concessions to the colonies. Some excitement was caused during the debate by the Parnellites jumping up on the seats and endeavouring to speak. On the division being taken the motion was carried by 264 to 252. The defeat of the Government was quite unexpected. It is reported that the town of Kassala has fallen into the hands of the rebels. June 10. Sixty-two of the Liberals abstained from voting on the Budget question. The defeat of the Government has caused great astonishment on the Continent. An impression prevails at Home that the Government courted defeat, so as to prevent a disruption in the Cabinet. The Radicals are jubilant over the result of the motion. It is believed that Mr Gladstone will conduct an election campaign. The fleet, under Admiral Hornby, has sailed for Bantry.
