TO CORRESPONDENTS.

"Stonewall" Jackson died of wounds received from his own men, at Chancellorville, on the 9th May, 1863. The fastest running, without stoppage, made by any Railway Company in England at the present time is that on the Great Northern Railway Line, by the 4.17 train from Grantham to King's Cross. The distance is 105 J miles, and the journey is completed in 1 hour and 58 minutes, thus giving a velocity of miles per hour. This is also the longest run without stoppage on any line in England. According to the best authorities the accent falls on the letter a in the last syllable, therefore the word Soudan is pronounced Sudan.
