The three battalions of Guards under orders to proceed to Soudan will embark at Portsmouth, for Suakim direct, on Saturday next. Rome, February 9. The Italian Government have decided that, if requested, assistance shall be afforded to England in the operations against the Mahdi. (Received February 11,12.30 p.m.) Cairo, February 10. Sir Charles "Wilson, who was wrecked while, returning from Khartoum to Metemneh, is rescued from the island on which he landed, near Shabukli Cataract, and, with the detachment, has reached Metemneh iu safety. He has since arrived at Korti to confer with General Wolseley. More troops are being despatched from Korti to Gubal. Suakim, February 10. News has reached here that Osraan Dignah is massing a large force of Mahdites near Tamai, between this place and Berber. Bombay, February 10. The reinforcements of troops to be despatched to Soudan from India will consist of Indian Native Regiments.
