A quoit match whs played on Saturday between Pettigrew, of Greymouth, and Campbell, of Denniston, for £lO a-side. It was won by Pettigrew, by four points. This was the third match, the first for £25 aside was won by Campbell, the second for £SO by Pettigrew, and now the third also *by the same.

Nelson, September 15. The woman who jumped down a well at Foxhill last night was Mrs Rebecca Hale, aged 67. She was suffering from nervous excitement aud other complaints, and, rising from her bed, went out of doors and jumped down the well. An accident occurred to the Akaroa coach on Saturday night, and George Bishop, sckoolmastoi, received injuries

from which he died. The accident occurred through the horses becoming frightened at a calf on the road and upsetting the coach. He leaves a wife and ten children.
