[REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. ORIENT STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY. THE PROPOSED CONFERENCE ON EGYPTIAN AFFAIRS. THE MURDER OF MRS. SMYTHE. TRIAL, CONVICTION, AND SENTENCE OF SUSPECTS. (Received April 24, 10.5 p.m.) London, April 23. The Orient Steam Navigation Company declares no dividend for the past half-year, but carries forward to reserve £7OOO. (Received April 25, 0.55 a.m.) April 24. It has transpired that to the note which recently has been addressed to the European Powers by the British Government suggesting a conference should be held to consider the present state of Egyptian affairs, in their replies all the Powers have assented to the principle involved ; and it is understood that a meeting of European plenipotentiaries will take place at an early date. The trial of the suspects who were arrested on charges of complicity in the murder of Mrs. Henry J. Smythe and the attack upon Barlow Smythe and Lady Henrietta Monck, near Killucan, West Meath, on April 2, 1882, was concluded to-day, when the five men were sentenced to ten years’ penal servitude.
