By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. LARGE VOTE FOR IMMIGRATION TO NEW SOUTH WALES. A WALKING MATCH.— O'LEARY V. EDWARDS. THE SUEZ MAIL. RAILWAY ACCIDENT AT CLUNES. (Received March 16, 1.5 a.m.) Sydney, March 15. Sailed, this afternoon, the Te Anau, for Auckland. The Legislative Assembly has passed, by a very large majority, a vote of £150,000 for immigration purposes. A walking match between O'Leary and Edwards, for £2OO aside, has commenced here. Edwards is, so far, ahead, a position he has maintained for some time since the commencement of the contest. (Received March 16, 1 a.m.) Albany, March 15. The P. and O. steamship Australia, with the inward Suez mails, dated London 9th February, arrived at King George's Sound last evening. (Received March 16, 1 p.m.) Dr. Suter, Bishop of Nelson, is a passenger by the Australia, which arrived here yesterday en route for Melbourne. Melbourne, March 15. An accident occurred to-day at Chines, on the North Western Railway, through a pointsman turning the train on to -the wrong line. Several passengers were injured, but no fatalities are reported. March 16. Telegraphic communication between Australia and Java is expected to be restored hourly.
