THE VICTORIAN LOAN. A DEPUTATION TO EARL KIMBERLEY. THE FRENCH PREMIER ON EGYPTIAN AFFAIRS. (Received January IC, 10 p.m.) London, January 15. A man named Thomas Higgins, who was found guilty of participation in the Lough Mask murder, was hanged to-day at Gal way. The emigrants from the ship Wild Deer, which was wrecked on North Rock on the 13th inst, have arrived at Belfast. They leave there to-night for Glasgow, where they will be reshipped to New Zealand by another ship. (Received January 16, 11 p.m.)
Arrangements have been made for despatching the Wild Deer's emigrants by the ship Caroline, which will leave Glasgow at an early elate.

Additional tenders to the amount of £IOO,OOO have been received fer the Victorian loan. The list is to be closed on Wednesday next, when the balance unapplied for will be withdrawn. The various Colonial Agents-General waited to-d:iy on Earl Kimberley, late Secretary of State for the Colonies. Sir Alexander Tait, High Commissioner for Canada, addressing Lord Kimberley on behalf of those pi'esent, expressed regret at his Lordship's severance from the Colonial Office, but hoped that his interest in the Colonies would not be lessened thereby. Earl Kimberley, in reply, thanked the visitors for their kind expressions, and assured them that he would continue to take a warm interest in Colonial affairs.
Constantinople, January 15.
It is reported that a band of Circassians made an attempt on the life of the Saltan to-da}'. The guard at the palace, however, prevented the entrance of the would-be assassins, and frustrated the attempt. It is stated that the Circassians fought desperately, and that several lives were lost. The reports have caused considerable excitement here, but they require confirmation. (Received January 16, 4.45 p.m.) Paris, January 15. M. Duclerc, Premier, in the Chamber of Deputies to-day, made a statement in reference to Egyptian affairs, which reviewed the whole position at length and concluded by announcing that as England has decided to act alone io the settlement of the Egyptian question, France would in future reserve perfect freedom of action in regard to Egypt.
LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS.
THE MUSICAL FESTIVAL. TWO PREMIERS IN CONFERENCE. (Received January 17, 12.30 p.m.) Melbourne, January 17. The Report of the Musical Festival held here at Christmas shows a loss of £2OOO. The guarantors are called upon to pay £25 each. The Hon. J. W. Bray, Premier and Chief Secretary of South Australia, who is now on a visit to this city, had a ; lengthy conference yesterday with Sir Bryan O'Loughlan, Premier of Victoria, at which various questions affecting the two colonies were discussed.
