BOROUGH TROUBLES.

[lO THE EDKOB.J > Sir—ln the report of the meeting convened by Mr geddon re-dissolution of the borough, I notice that your leporter states that the Chairman, Mr yf. Barnett, declared the resolutions carried. Now, Sir, as one of the ratepayers! most decidedly repudiate such a declaration. I was preseut arid listened with much satisfactioa to the display of oratory pro and con, which must have struck those who had any interest in the matter as sußlimely ridiculous, personalities being freely indulged in, the upshot of the whole being a disorderly breaking-up, amid which disorder the resolutions were declared carried. Feeling mysfilf personally interested in the proceedings, I took particular care to note the uumher of ratepayers who were present; and, allowing all olds to be against me, I don't think there were more than of whom ahout five voted .for ..and nine against. Plenty of hands were held U|>, but the owners had nothing whatever to do with the borough, but merely went to have a bit of fun on the cheap, and thought they might as well contribute their quota to the general atntlsement J even the $& cinder of resolution No. 2 was a miner up the Lend. I merely make these few statements to let the outside public know the support they may expect to receive at the hands of the ratepayers in the annihilation of our borough."—l am, yours truly, Holdfast.
