The mail coach left the Bealey this morning at the usual early hour, and arrived at the post-office at 3.10 p.m. Mr Rugg’s coach arrived also about the same time.
We are informed by the Postmaster that the Charles Edward left Nelson yesterday, at 4.45 p.m, for Hokitika, with the San Francisco mail, and the Kumara portion may be expected here on Sunday evening.
Professor Tamburini and amateurs appear at the Theatre Royal this evening, to give a farewell benefit to the Professor. A meeting of subscribers to the Kumara Prospecting Association is to be held in the Town Hall on Monday next, to decide on the mode of dealing with the balance of the association funds.
The Wellington correspondent of the West Coast Times telegraphed yesterday :—“ In the House to-day, Mr Finn again put a question to the Minister of Justice, in reference to holding a R.M. Court sitting in the evening at Kumara.— The Minister said Government had intimated their disapproval of holding Court sittings in the evening. He was not aware that evening sittings were held since that intimation was received.”
Messrs Girdwood, Lahman and Co, will sell, on Monday next, at the Preston Yards, Greymouth, a really good superb lot of bullocks, and some prime fat wethers.
We understand Messrs Cassidy, Clarke, and Co., have disposed of their interest in the mail coach and service between Kumara and Hokitika, to Messrs Hugh Cameron and J. W. Bassett. Mr R. Love’s Juvenile Minstrels are announced to make their appearance at the Theatre Royal, Kumara, oil Wednesday next, the 31st inst., in one of their entirely novel, chaste, and refined entertainments, consisting of songs and sketches, and dancing. The total value of rateable property in the County of Inangahua is £22,288, and a shilling rate it is proposed to levy will amount to £lll4 Bs,
