THE DEATH OF ABDUL AZIZ CURIOUS DISCLOSURES.
Tlie inquiry concerning the death of Abdul Aziz is producing some curious disclosures. The two brothers-in-law of the Siiltauj Mahmoud Pasha and Mouri Pasha, who have been arrested on suspicion of having been among the chief instigators of the crime, have begun to incriminate each other, and very full details of the manner in which the crime was committed are now published. According to these, it appears that the crime was committed by Fahri Bey, the Sultan’s second chamberlain and a professional wrestler named Pomak Ibrahim, a Bulgarian Mussulman. Fahri threw himself upon his victim, and then called to Ibrahim to open his veins with a dagger, while his feet were held by two blacks. Ibrahim proceeded to carry out his instructions, and opened first a vein in his right arm. The Sultan succeeded in freeing himself from Fuhri’s grasp ; the latter, however, again seized his victim, and and struck him several blows with such force as to break several of the Sultan’s teeth, while Ibrahim was hacking at the vein in the left arm. Finally, Abdul Aziz fell to the ground unconscious from loss of blood. The assassins thereupon left the room, and, after placing a pair of scissors steeped in blood in the Sultan’s left hand, they carefully locked the door. A few minutes later Fahri Bey, pretending to have just arrived at the Palace, returned, and, getting no answer, burst open the door, and then summoned the household by cries and lamentations. It was then given out that the Sultan had committed suicide. The doctors \yho issued the well-known report were only allowed to examine the Sultan's arms and face. The con. spirators, it is satated, at one time intended to destroy all the members of the Imperial family with the exception of the then reigning sovereign, Murad. A banquet was organised, to which the Imperial princes were invited, with the intention of murdering them then and there. The reigning Sultan, then the heir to the throne, suspecting treason, declined the invitation, and induced other princes to keep away.' The dedetails of the conspiracy are said to have been discovered through the revelations of a lady in Mahmoud Damid’s harem, who was dissatisfied either because of neglect or ill-treat-ment.
