Position Accepted in Queensland

AUCKLAND, Last" Night. The xesignation of Mr. N. M. Richmond from the position of director of the Workers' Educational Association at Auckland was accepted with regret by the Auckland University College Council. Mr. Richmond advised the council that he had been appointed director of tutorial classes and lecturer in economic history at the University of Queensland. In order to assist Mr. Richmond to take up his new duties early next year, the council resolved to accept his resignation and to ask the committee in charge of W.E.A- appointments to proceed with the task of finding a successor for Mr. Richmond. Mr. Richmond is the second son of the late Mr. M. W. Richmond, who was professor of English and New Zealand Law at Yictoria College until 1911 and was later partner in a Christchurch legal firm. Mr. Richmond received his earlier education at Wellington and Nelson schools and then went to Canterbury University College in 1915. He enlisted the following year and left with the 37th Reinforcements in 191S, being later a member of the Army of Occupation in Germany. When he returned to New Zealand, he went to Canterbnry College and in 1919 was elected as a Rhodes Seholar. He was appointed as an a&sistant tutor organiser for the W.E.A. in Auckland iu 1925 and since 1928 has been director.
