WESTPORT DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB MEETING

Favoured by a fine day, and a light westerly wind, members of the Westport Defence Rille Club enjoyed a pleasant day on the Pakahi range last week-end. Shooting commenced at 300yds where two shots and ten to count were tired. Members later assembled at the range hut for the annual meeting and morning tea, after which two sighting and 11 shots were fired at 500 yards. R. Keoghan was was scorer for the day, returning 100 off the rifle for the aggregate with a possible of 105. N. Perkins was next with 98, including a nice 54 at 500 yards. Some of the new members showed promise. In opening the meeting, the president, Mr L. Hutchison, said, the balance sheet showed the club to be in a sound position. Officers elected were: President, Mr L. Hutchison; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Spence, J. J. Rossiter, F. Mitchell, and L. Wood; hon. secretary, Mr J. R. Keoghan; custodian and treasurer, Mr L. Hutchison; management committee, ex-officers, members and Mr R. F. Marshall; on. auditor, Mr P. L. Struthers: club handicapper, Mr A. L. Williams; postponement committee, Messrs Perking Keoghan and R. F. Marshall; clue captain, Mr N. Perkins; range wardens, Mr Geoff White, John Marshall. Competitions, aggregates, prizes and handicap standards remain as last year. Shooting next week will be over ranges 300, 500 and 600 yards. Scores were:—J. R. Keoghan 100, N Perkins 98, L.
