The monthly meeting of the Westport branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Federation was held on Tuesday, November 9. Ten members were present, and Mrs W. H. Carter presided. The meeting opened with the reading of the creed. It was decided to forward a food parcel to Britain. Gifts for the leper parcels are to be packed and forwarded to Mr Twoomey. Arrangements for the children’s Christmas party were finalised. A Christmas tree will be the feature of the partv. which is to be held in the Sergeant’s Hill Hall on Saturday December 4. Santa Claus will distribute a gift to each child. A social committee was formed. The children will be well catered for with soft drinks, ice cream, supper etc. A dainty supper, served by the hostesses, Mesdames Foley and Walshe, brought another happy evening to a close. Competition winners were: Tea towel, Mrs Casey; face powder, Mrs Casey; hand lotion, Mrs L. Menzies.
