HOKITIKA, Sept. 21. Mr and Mrs G. Belcher. have left to reside at Christchurch. Mr D. Shearer has returned to Dunedin, after a visit ,to_.his .relatives at Ruatapu. Mrs E. M. Agnew is on a visit to Christchurch. Mr H. J. Parsons, 'relieving bus foreman of the •Road Services, returned this morning to Dunedin. The funeral of the late Miss Esther Ward took place on Saturday, September 18. Requiem Mass was ' celebrated by the Rev. Father A. S. Ward of St. Patrick’s College Silverstream, nephew of deceased. Rev Fathers Lordan, J. Daly and J. O’Sullivan being present in the Sanctuary. During the Mass hvms were sung by the choir, and, as the cortege moved from the church the Dead March was played by Miss Daly, ’organist. The pall-bearers included former pupils of H.D.H.S., at which school the late Miss Ward had taught for very many years. Numerous beautiful floral tributes testified to the esteem in which she was held by her old punils and friends. The No. 3 Licensing Authority. Mr P. J. Skoglund, granted applications as follows. —J. K. McKey, Ross, amendment re mails and parcels be- ’ tween Ross and Waitaha; Touriist Department, new passenger service in South Westland. Franz Josef to Bruce Bay, etc; B. H. Cowan, Okuru transfer of goods service from Buchanan Bros; Sullivan Bros, passenver license for the routes: Weheka-Fox Glacier; Weheka-Lake Matheson: Weheka-Bruce Bav: Weheka-Franz Josef Glacier. Decision was reserved on the application of J. A. Wilson, Franz Josef, for cartage for Public Works Department Waiho-Wataroa. Other applications adjourned were: L. L. Smith, Jackson Bay, additional goods service; B. A. Brown. Hokitika one vehicle; and R. J. Egghng of Okarito, passengers Okuru-Haasv Jackson Bay.
