Rebels Caught by Greek Army Seek to Surrender
ATHENS, March 23 Greek Army headquarters at Salonika has claimed a major victory over strong guerrilla forces in the Olympus area It announced that 42/ guerrillas surrendered and another force of 1500. which was surrounded, was seeking surrender terms. Greek regulars overran the rebel headquarters above the snowline and destroyed 200 huts packed with food and war stores.
Communists Still Kidnapping Young Greeks I AUCKLAND, March 24 A cablegram of protest “to the civilised world against the kidnapping of children by agents of the Cominform” was received from the Pirtaeus (Greece) Chamber of Commerce and Industry at a meeting this morning oi the Council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. “These young persons, constituting the national hope, are abducted into foreign countries where they are submitted to training tending to uproot from their conscience all moral and Christian principles, and ultimately resulting in their enlistment in the army ot crime,” stated the message. The. cablegram was signed by Mr P. Kantiaz, an ex-Minister and chairman of the Chamber. It is to be referred to the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, and the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Holland.
