CRICKET Sheffield Shield For N.S.W. Again
(Rec. 11.0) SYDNEY, Feb. 3 By defeating West Australia outright by 98 runs to-day, New South Wales is almost certain to win the Sheffield Shield. New South Wales forced the pace this morning, and closed its second innings twenty minutes before lunch at 200 for four wickets. This left West Australia to score 304 in 235 minutes for a win. Carmody batted well for 81, but after his dismissal the New South Wales bowlers were on top. Scores: New South Wales second innings.— 200 for 4 wickets declared. —Lukeman 66, Donaldson 50, Miller 36, Moroney no? out 30. Bowling: Puckett 4 for 79. West Australia second innings 205. Cormody 81, Bandy 34. Bowling: Miller 2 for 53. Beath 2 for 20, Toshack 2 for 37, Johnston 3 for 38. M.C.C. v. TRINIDAD PORT OF SPAIN, Feb 2 The match between Trinidad and the M.C.C. team was drawn. M.C.C. in the first innings made 418 (Ikin 65, Evans 55; Ferguson 4 for 87). Trinidad in the second innings made 101 for no wickets (declared). M.C.C. in the second lost three for 80.
