GREY RIVER HOSPITAL.
A meeting of the sub-committee of the Grey River Hospital was held at the Oourb House, Ahaura, on Friday evening. There were present Messrs Wbitefoorel, (in the chair). Pinkerton, White, Potts, and Hayden, hon. sec. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Secretary read correspondence, and stated that a sum of L 36 12s had been forwarded to the Treasurer of the Grey River Hospital as the proceeds of ttie Artunion, at Ahaura, for a gold watch given as a donation to the Hospital funds. Tne sum forwarded, together with the ex penßes, amounting to L 6 B*, bronchi the proceeds of the Ait-union up to L 43 The hon. Secretary annouueed that the don-r of the watch was Mrs M'Neill, wife of Mr Robert M'Neill, Lome Hall, Totara Flat. The gift was nnaccompauied by anycendition, with the exception of a wish that if it suited the arrangements of the Committee of Management of the Hospital, the proceeds should be expended up->n the female ward and its inmates. The money realised from the Art-union, with the proportionate Government subsidy, would amount to LlO9 168. It was resolved unanimously that the hon. Secretary be instructed to write to Mrs M'Neill, thanking her on behalf of the Committee for her munificent donation, and also to write to the Central Com- • ruittee, at Greymouth, enclosing a copy I of the resolution, I A letter from Mr G. B. Hall, of the Government Survey Department, enclosing an account, for three guineas for preparing plans of the Ahaura Hospital building,, with the proposed alterations and improvements, was taken into consideration. After discussion a resolution was carried on the motion of Mr White, seconded by Mr Pinkert >n, empowering the Hon. Secretary to arrange with Mr Hall. At the last meeting of the Committee the only tender sent in for repairing the< Hospital building at Ahaura was rejectedas being too high, and the matter was referred to ,the Provincial Engineer. The Engineer's estimate of what the repairs and alterations should cost was laid before the Committee, and it was decided the work of placing the building in order to receive patients should be left to the new. Committee. . ..- A letter from Mr Badger, of Greymouth, giving the price of a quantity of glass required, was also referred to theconaideration- of the next Committed.
It was decided that the Committee would have a final meeting on Tuesday, 2nd December, and then resign. Th.9 tion.
