Smiler was got by Prince, a pure Suffolk horse, imported by Mr Ford, from whom he was purchased, out of a remarkably fine mare, got by Czar, a Clydesdale horse, imported from Scotland, by the late Mr Scott. The breed on dams side, were originally frtm a mare got by Clydesdale Ben, a fine imported Clydesdale to Sydney about twenty years ago, and has been crossed by none but imported Clydesdales, with the exception of Prince.
