' There is no. branch of commercial enterprise in New Zealand which presents such a favorable opening for the , investment of , Capital as that of Fire and Marine Insurance. The success which has attended the establishment of the .*ew Zealand and South British Cora panics is a proof of this. The business of Fire and Marine Insurance is so rapidly increasing that there is ample room for another company in this Colony. Largely increased facilities for cavering this class of risk are imperatively required, and the National Insurance Conapanj' is founded to supply this want. . This Company is not started in opposition to any of the other New Zealand Companies, but is intended to co-operate with them in fostering the trade and commerce of the Colony, and concentrating in the country the large caoital which is annually drafted, out of it by foreign Insurance Companies. ; . In order to make this a. purely Colonial Company. aDd to ensure a large, amount ; of business through the influence of its shareholders, it is proposed to distribute the shares over the whole Colony, and, in their allotment, to keep in view the ability of shareholders to influence business to the Company. 00,000 shares will be reserved for the northern Provinces. • • The operations of this Company will .'be conducted on sound principles, ana extreme caution will be exercised in the selection of risks. It is intended that the Articles of Association Bhall provide forth© election of Local Boards of Directors by the shareholders in the chief commercial centres of the Colony. The amount proposed to be called up will, it is estimated, be a sufficient paid-up capital to warrant the Company in commencing operations, and it is not anticipated that any further call will be necessary. f; •' The Provisional Directors have secured the services of Mr A. Hill Jack, the Resident Secretary of the Victoria Insurance Company, as General Manager of this Company. f ■;'; Applications for shares will be received by G. W. MOS S AND CO., Greymouth, " Agents for the West Coast. : TVUFFIELD'S SILK-DRESSED FLOUR, Gawler Town, South Australia. This Flour is now acknowledged to be the BEST, and: commands THE HIGHEST PRICE of any in the Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and other markets.; Messrs Win. Duffield and Co. have now their TWO NEW MILLS in full working order in the very centre of the finest wheat-growing districts, and having introduced all the NEWEST IMPROVEMENTS in Machinery and Silk dressing, ; together with being in a position to-rbuyf up largely the CHOICEST SAMPLES of WHEAT, they are determined that their: brand shall continue to class FIRST IN THE; MARKET ; and in order to put a stop to the unprincipled practices hitherto, carried on in outside ports of dealers putting inferior flour into their bags and selling it as their brand, Messrs Dnffield and Co. have made arrangements to ship either direct to their customers or to their own appointed agents, so that storekeepers and bakers may, iniuture, rely upon getting THE GENUINE BRAND. . ■ Direct shipments are now being .made to Messrs HAMILTON and NJCHOL, Greymouth; Messrs BAILIE and HUMPHREY, Westport; -.; ■!,; And ' ,- Mr D, W.
