The Government received a telegram from Earl Kimberley withdrawing his proposal for a prolongation of the Mail Service, and offering to convey mails to Galle, San Francisco, and Singapore free of charge and pay each contracting Colony the outward postage, less transit charges, and inward British postage. The agricultural statistics show a satisfactory average : wheat, 16^ bushels to the acre. The Zanga, 118 days from Liverpool to Auckland has been spoken. The Sydney Government has telegraphed to Mr Oowper to commence assisted emigration. • Sailed— Sarah and Mary, for Greymouth. The Great Britain has arrived this morning after a fine passage.
