NELSON PROVINCIAL COUNCIL. (from our special correspondent.) Nelson, May 8. The Government proposed last night a motion declaring the desirability of a lease of the Brunnerton and Greymouth Railway being granted to a company for the construction of the Foxhill and Brun-. nerton lines. The motion was so written that it read that the Superintendent should be empowered to grant a lease. The motion was ridiculed, and a .-lively discussion ensued on the general question. The West Coast members are all antagonistic to the present proposals, and the discussion was adjourned for a week. Meantime the rest of the Coast members are invited to meet the Land Committtee.
[NEW ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION,] Dunedin, May 8. In the Provincial Council the debate on Mr Reid's amendment was resumed this afternoon. Webster moved an amendment that the Council had no confidence in the Government, and requested it to resign. Tolmie pressed for an adjournment, which was refused. The Opposition will press the matter to a division. The vessel ashore at Allday Bay is the brig Moa. The Waste Lands Board, by a majority of one, refused to sell the Marewhenua block. On the Council resuming this evening Mr Tolmie intimated that, acting on the advice of supporters of the Government, he had resigned. The debate is being pressed on. Wb.iaington, May 8. All existing curators districts under the Intestate Act are abolished, and the whole of New Zealand is declared one district. W. R. E. Mackay ba3 left Kuiti without seeing Tawhaio, and is now at Tewira with Rewi, awaiting a definite reply to the demand for the murderers.
