The prospectors of the Kokatahi quartz .reef are again in Hokitika, and with still encouraging tidings. They are sinking be. side the reef which descends perpendicularly, and have reached a depth of 16ft. In their progress they have met several leaden, in all of which gold has been seen. When they arrive at a depth of 30ft (about the river level), they intend driving across the reef to ascertain its width through, from the fact' of the river being extraordinarily lowl they have already traced it at that level to the water's edge, where it is found to be fully 6ft wide. They bring more and better samples of the reef.
