A Chemical Preparation of Phosphorus, with the Vegetable Alkaloids, Quinia, Cypri peden, Xanthoxylin, &c. Discovered, introduced, and extensivelj prescribed by Charles Leslie Bright, AI.D., Resident Surgeon to St. Mary's HoS' pital, London. This Phosphatic combination is pronounced by the most eminent members of the Me dical Profession to be unequalled for its power in replenishing the vitality of thebodj by its supplying all the essential constituent: of the blood and nerve substance, and foi developing all the powers and functions o: the system to the highest degree. It is agreeable to the palate, and innocen 1 in its action, while retaining all its extra ordinary properties ; and as a specific, sur passing all the known therapeutic agents oi the day for the speedy and permanent cure of — Nervous prostration Shortness of breath Liver complaints Trembling of th< Palpitation of the hands and limbs heart Impaired- nutrition Dizziness Mental and physical Noises in the head depression and ears Consumption (in itt Loss of energy and incipient or firsl appetite stages only) Hypochandria Eruptions of the skir Female complaints Impaired sight and General debility memory Indigestion . The action of tht Phosphodyne is twofold — on the one hanc increasing the principle which constitute! nervous energy, and on the other the mos powerful blood and flesh generating agen known ; therefore a marvellous medicine fo renovating impaired and broken down con stitutions. It quickly improves the functioi of assimilation to such a degree, that wher for years an emaciated, anxious, cadaverous and semi-vital condition has existed, th flesh will rapidly increase in quantity am firmness, and the whole system return to ; state of robust health. The Phosphodyne acts electrically upoi the organisation ; for instance, it assists na ture to generate that human electricity whicl renews and rebuilds the osseous, muscular nervous, membranous, and organic systems It operates on the system without excitin: care or thought upon the individual as t the process. It moves the lungs, liver, heart kidneys, stomach, and intestines, withahai mony, vigor, yet mildness, unparalleled ii medicine. The Phosphodyne gives back to the humai structure, in a suitable form, the phosphori or animating element of life, which has beei wasted, and exerts an important ihfluenc directly on the spinal marrow and nervou 1 system, of a nutritive, tonic, and invigorat ing character; maintaining that buoyan energy of the brain and muscular systec which renders the mind cheerful, brilliant and energetic, entirely overcoming that dull inactive, and sluggish disposition whicl many persons experience in all thei actions. The beneficial effeots of the Phosphodyn are frequently shown from the first day o its administration, by a remarkable increas of nervous power, with afeeling of vigor ,an< comfort to which the patient has long beei unaccustomed. Digestion is improved, th appetite increases wonderfully, the bowel become regular, the eyes brighter, the skii clear and healthy, and the hair acquire strength, showing the importance of tin action of the Phosphodyna on the organs o nutrition. Sir Charles Locock, Physical Accoucheui to Her Majesty the vjueen, stated at a meet' ing of the Royal Medical and Chirur^ical Society, that in thirteen gases of debilitj and nervous prostration he had effected permanent cures by the use of- Dr. Bright* Phosphodyne. Sir Wm. Ferguson, , Bart., F.R.S., Snr geon to Her Majesty the Queen, says — " 1 have repeatedly prescribed Dr. Bright'; Phosphodyne and found it an agreeable and beneficial remedy. I have but one objectior regarding it, and that is, the elaborate pro' cess required in the preparation will not allow of. the retail price being within the reach ol all classes." Dr Lancaster, the Eminent Coroner, says — "Dr Bright's Phosphodyne is calculated to entirely supersede iron, mercury, sarsaparilla, quinine, and cod liver oil." DrR. Quain, F.R.C.P., Physician to the Hospital for Consumption, Brompton, remarks— "lt cannot be doubted that this Phosphatic preparation will henceforth rank foremost in therapeutics; it generates all the important elements of the human frame, the peculiar character of this substance fitting it for vital uses." Sir T. Lawrence says—" I have found Dr. Bright's Phosphodyne an excellent remedy in skin diseases. I presume it is by oxydisation." Professor Syme says—" The effects of the Phosphodyne in obstinate cases of disease are a§' astonishing as perplexing."
