A gentleman residing at Ne,w Norfolk, ' Tasmania, wrifcesas follows to an Otago friend concerning the salmon experiment 'in' thdi Colony :—^'The parent' salmon hatched in the ponds here havo been twice in the Derwent to spawn since their liberation. Salmon, , according to my authority, Mr Ramsbottom, of Clitheroe, visit their original breeding place only ©jery/ ye.ars. We have parr, the results of two of these visits from the sea, ( showing that at an interval of, one, and a. half to 1 two years the parent fisbicidfe W spawn./ I havebeen down to see at least three ventable specimens oisalmo salar, bnt-not in one case were the fish tramps. Still, a salmon will be taken sometime, of that you may rest assured ; . but so far, this fish has proved more than a match for the anglers. As to trotit, fish from one to nine pounds are constantly killed. One' pentleman lately took six, which weighed over 301 b, one .of them being nearly 'olb; M . ;
