Chbistchurch. - The Press of the 10th inst. reports : — In the grain market a rather quiet week has closed. No actual alteration in values can be noted, but buyers for the moment are not quite so anxious to operate. Holders refuse to make concessions, and a few sales of superior milling parcels have been made at 5s 9d. Stocks held by the millers are certainly not heavy, and we still require seven months' supply to carry us through until next harvest, so that we may reasonably expect prices on the whole will be quite sustained, while it is just possible much higher rates will be paid ere the year closes. Our local millers are very firm at Ll5 for best brand 8 of flour, although exports for the moment show a considerable falling off A few Hues of superior malting barley have been placed at 3s up to 3s 6<l. Oats are in steady request, as outside advices are slightly more favorable. Prime samples of bright Canadians are quitted freely at 2s sd, and %yen 2s 6d is reported to have been paid for unexceptional parcels. Tartars are in better request for feed at 2s 3d. Butter is finding a steady outlet to the North and the West Coast at 6£d to 6|d. Potatoes are dull of sale at L 2, although holders, as a rule, demand higher figures.
