Tho races, and tbe departure of the Panama and Suez mails, has no doubt been to a considerable extent the cause. The sale of sugars advertised for the pth, resulted in nearly the whole, with the exception of fine white Mauritius crystals, whjch realised L 43 j9s in bond, being withdrawn. Teas olfered at the same time were also passed, for want of an offer at consignees' reserve. General goods, also offered by Mr Hargreaves, inej; with but little favor. Geneva was the only article r.e;Jly competed for, and brought 20s to 20s 6d, 3. 7-32 contents ; and nun 30 o.p. brought Cs to Cs 9d. Gia'u there is little or nothing doing in ; millers are not buying unless at reduced rates. Wheat cannot be quoted at more than Qs (id for tine samples ; the last Victorian apcounts quose Is as a very outside price for New Zealand. Oats are not offering fieely, but this doe's not improve prices; 2s 3d is nil extreme price forgoo.l samples. Of barl -y there is little of good quality offering. Fat sheep are \\\ demand at 3d per lb. Sales of fat wethers have been made, medium weights fetching ]43 G(l each, and ewes lls 3d to 11s 9d; store wethers, good weights, are quoted at 9s to 10s, light weights, lj>. This cjass is in improved demand.
