RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, GREYMOUTH.
Thursday, March 12. (Before W. H. Revell, Esq., R.M.) CIVIL CASES. Sampson v. Macgregor. — This was a claim for L 23 9s for work and labor done. The defence was that the plaintiff and defendant had bought a house together) and that the work had been, done on that house. After, the acconuts of . the parties had been gone into, the Magistrate gave judgment for the plaintiff for L 5 7s 6d, but withheld execution to allow the defendant to summons the plaintiff for a set off. Strike and Son v. Card Bros.— Claim, L465s 6d for goods supplied. The defendant stated that, his reason for not paying the account was that he had never received a proper bill of particulars. Judgment was given for L 43 9s 6d. The cases Organ v. Griff, and Cassius andComiskey v. O'Connor, were adjourned for fourteen days. James Brophy v. the Rev. Father Larkins.— This was a claim of L4O, portion of the purchase money of a house (the Duneclin Hotel, Stafford Town), sold by plaintiff to defendant. An agreement was put in, shewing that the defendant was to pay the purchase money by instalments of Lib per month. Only one instalment had been paid, and four were now due. Judgment for plaintiff for £40 and costs. There was no business at the Court yesterday.
