Mr. J. B. Christie, who lor the past 23 years has been solicitor to the State" Advances Department, will retire on superannuation on March 1, The Hawke’s Bay Presbytery lias appointed the fojlowing ministerial delegates to attend the sitting of the General Assembly, at Dunedin, in March: Revs. J. A. Asher, D. -I. Shaw, R. B. Waugh, R. McCully, F. W. Robertson, A. C- McLean and J. T. Mackay. The Federal Prime Minister (Mr, Scullin') may go to Geneva, for the opening, of the League Assembly, in September, whilo en route to the Imperial Conference. Members of the staff of the Gisborne branch of the Bank of Australasia met on 'Wednesday to extend their best wishes and congratulations to Mr. J. A. C. King on the eve of his marriage. The manager, Mr. H. I. Thodey, on behalf of the staff, presented a silver entree dish to Mr. King, adding the best wishes for his and the future Mrs. king s success and happiness. Similar wishes were extended by other speakers and Mr. King made a suitable response. The executive of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, at a special meeting at Wellington on Wednesday, decided to recominened to all unions I* of employers the nominations of the Federation’s president (Hon. 1. Shailer Weston M.L.C.) as their representative on the New Zealand delegation, which is to attend the International Labour Conference at Geneva in May next. Asked at Dunedin as tp the rumor of an attempt to ionn a new political party, with his name mentioned as the possible leader.
