The Polo Sports.
• The polo races and sports to be held on tbe Feilding racecourse next Wednesday should attract a considerable number of the public, more especially those who enjoy an afternoon's sport and; fun. The programme is a very excellent one, being novel and interesting. The entries for all the events are large, the control of the meeting in capital bands, and altogether there is every requisite of a most successful , gathering. One very gratifying point in connection therewith presents itself, and that is the total absence of the " professional " element, so well and unfavorably known on every racecourse. In this instance the public have some chance of anticipating the winner prior to the fall of the starters flag, provided they have, even to a limited extent, the knowledge to recognise breeding in pony flesh. Each and everyone of tbe competitors will ride to win, and " stiff uns " of any kind will be an unknown quantity at this meeting. The prizes are trophies. All the members of the Feilding Club will compete, and visitors from clubs in other parts of the colony will "don the silk" and do their utmost to "shove their ponies noses " paat tbe winning post fox the love of sport pure and simple. Tbe programme is that of a miniature rape meeting, but all the surroundings will be, perhaps better and free from the objectionable professionals before alluded to. Tbe committee have worked hard to make the affair a success, and we feel confident their labors will not be in vain. All the harm we wish them is tbat the fine weather may continue till after Wednesday. Tbe sports will commence at 1.30 p.m. At a committee meeting of the Polo Club on Saturday last final arrangements were made in connection with the sports to be held on the Feilding racecourse on Weneaday next. It was fouud that they were unable to hold the GretuaGrecn race but it was decided to hold a donkey race should time permit, mm^^^^^^^
