(Per Press Association.) Aucklakd, Dec. o. Monowai for Sydney this morning ; Upolu for Fiji. A skeleton, supposed to be that of a missing deaf and dumb man named Fleming, fonnd between Mangapira and Bay of Islands, lost in the bash ia 1894. It is stated the Governor and party will leave Wellington on the 20th inati. in the New Government steamer for Auckland, and take a cruise around tbe North Island. Alexander McClintock, F.E. J.S., teacher at Archill, has been appointed Inspector of schools for Cook islands. The 33 tons of pearl shell, arrived from Tahiti with the most extensive and valuable consignment for years past. Dunedin, Dec. 5. The returns for the Gold Fields Company for the last month was 480ozs of gold. Gisbohne, Dec. 6. At tbe inquest on Charles Fisher, who was poisoned on Friday, tbe evidence showed that in company with two other prohibited persons, he went to the house of a boatbuiider named Steel, and breaking into Steel's bouse obtained the key to ] bis boat shed, saying he wanted a drmk and would have one. Hjs companions ' state he went into the shed and^presently \ called out " I'm poisoned." He diod shortly afterward. Two boetlc,3 containing carbolic acid for disinfecting purposes had been left in tbe shed a day before by a Maori who was carrying them to his employer's private residence.
