ELECTION DAY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— The political scribbling which has appeared in the 'Star will not, I am sure, have the desired effect. Even when exact truth is told, which is very seldom, no partizan will believe it coming from the mouth or tbe pen of an opponent, and the untruthful and abusive champion more often leads bis " favorite "to defeat than to victory. But, now that several liquor admirers have sufficiently advertised the crookedness of their moral, mental, and religions backbone — showing us bow stnpidly, if not wickedly, they mix; the old Bible with new wines, and new times, and liberty with absurdity. Prohibitionists can all tbe more enthusiastically vote "no license." It is, then, to be hoped that every man and woman who regards and respects human life, and the true spirit of the Old Book will write (no matter which candidate they favor), and though sure to be in a majority, show to the new Parliament tbe numerical strength of righteous- minded people here by " striking out the top line " on election day. I am, &c., Bottom Line.
