Ad accident; occurred in the Consolr dated gold fields globe mine by which a miner named John McLaren, aged 64 who lately arrived at Reefton met hie death. He accidentally fell down a shaft 200 feet below No. 5 lease. He leaves a widow and grown up family. Dunedin, Nov. 18. The Rev. L. Isitfc addressed a crowded meeting at the Garrison Hall to-night in reply to the recent address given by Mi W. W. Collins. At the close resolution! were carried that the answer given to Mi Collins was complete and satisfactory ; also that in the opinion of the meeting Prohibition would be in the best interests of the community. The perpetual trustees of the Estate and Agency Company have declared ar interim dividend of 12 per cent. Christchtjrch, Nov. 18. The Meat Company has just completed the largest deal in pork which has yei been made in New Zealand, having pur chased the whole of the ensuing season's output ot bacon pigs of the New Zealand LandCo.'e Edendale Dairy factory. The estimate purchase comprises 1500 to2OOC pigs. Auckland. Nov. 18. St Andrew's Presbyterian congregation has given a unanimous call to the Rev. John Myers, of Kiama, N.S.W. Wm George Gallot, bootmaker, was fined £23 and costs to-day for conducting a Melbourne Cup sweep.
