Thompson, of Wellington, to break the present cycling record between Blenheim and Nelson. Owing to the heavy weather it was unsuccessful, but on some portions of the journey excellent time was made. The first stage, from Blenheim to Havelock, a distance of 28 miles, was covered in 1 hour and 30 minutes, notwithstanding a strong adverse wind. Heavy rain then came on, and on overtaking the coach at Canvastown the cyclist jogged along behind it, finally reaching Nelson after a journey of 8 hours and 20 minutes. Mr Thompson rode a QUADKANT Roadster geared to 84 and weighing 27lbs. Referring to Mr Thompson's performance, a Nelson paper says that a man who can average 28 miles an honr on roads such as were ridden over is not likely to appear to disadvantage on the track. Mr Thompson intends attempting to put up a record from Nelson to Foxhill on Monday next. J. DARRAGH, AGENT, FEILDING. ' DIEECT FBOM STAFFOEDSHIBB. 600 Tea~~Pots 600 RTTATTTTFTIT, FANCY TEA POTS.
