SPRAYING FRUIT TREES.
Sir, —As now is the proper time to dr«?.*-ti apple trees infested with scale pest which escaped the winter dressing (Leaflet No. 30, Gardeners), kindly allow me to draw your readers'attention to the tenderness of the young scale now on the move, creeping out from under the old bard shells, wbich appear to the naked eye like whitish dots ; also to point out the best remedies for this season of tbe year, which are the " Sulphide of Soda " and the " Kerosine Emulsion" washes, made as nnder : — "Kerosine Emulsion " : Water, 1 gal; soap, _\b; boiled until dissolved; poured into 2 gallons of kerosine and well churned; when cold use 1 part to 12 parts of water. " Sulphide of Soda ": Dissolve 301bs soft soap in 50 gals water; boil 31bs concentrated lye with 61bs sulphur in 2 gals of water till thoroughly dissolved ; then mix the whole and boil for half an hour; add 80 gals water and use warm.
