, The Feilding Lawn Tennis Club opened tbeir courts on Saturday last. , The high wind blowing was not favouri able to reall3 r good tennis, and, owing to 3 the showery weather lately, the ground was heavy and very slow. Nothwitht standing the unfavourable weather, there 3 was a large number present, and all seemed to enjoy themselves. Tea was supplied by the ladies of the club, and . greatly appreciated, more especially as it was more an afternoon for sociable I chat than for play. The usual presentj ation of prizes was postponed until the j tournaments are completed. They must I be finished bj' Saturday. 51 h December; and those competitors wbo have not played off must arrange afc once with th-ir opponents for a suitable day to play off. A meeting of ladies was held on the courts at 4.30 to arrange re teas for the season. Mrs Mncarihnr occupied the chair and Mi3s A. H. Fry was appointed secretary. A list was drawn up to be sent th those ladies who have promised to I provide toas. ' Now that the courts are opened it is to y he hoped that we will be favored with J more seasonable weather. It would be an improvement if mems 1 bers do all the rolliog they can this week, while the courts are so^t, as should the . weather take up the courts will soon harden.
