Stock Market.
Messrs Abraham aud Williams report :— At Pahiatua on Tuesday we had shorter entries than usual of both sheep and cattlo. The attendance vcas small and the demand for both classes unusually lifeless. The greater portion of the sheep were turned out unsold, but we disposed of the bulk of the cattle at prices somewhat lower than owners' expectations. At Palmerston on Thursday the sheep were in short supply, but the pens were fairly well filled with cattle, principally grown steers. Whilst we cannot claim a material alteration iv prices except perhaps for young steers of good quality the demand was undoubtedly better for both sheep and cattle and we practically cleared the yards at quotations. We quote : — At Pahiatua : Fat wethers (small) 12s 6d ; forward ewes, 8s 6d ; 2 year steers, £2 7s 6d to £2 14s ; fat cows, £3 15s to £4 2s 6d ; yearling steers, 33s 6d ; weaners, 27s 6d ; yearling Polled Angus heifers, 325.
