Bayliss, who had announced his candidature fot Wellington Suburbs, has withdrawn from the contest. Dunedin, Oct. 29. Mr F. M. Lester, a candidate for the City, addressed a. well-attended meeting of electors at the City Hall to-night. The principal point in his platform is a State Bank of Issue foi: the colony with noninterest bearing money and concurrently, Referendum with Initiative Elective Executive, Prohibition by a bare majority. A vote of thanks and confidence was declared carried, but a large section of the audience did not vote.
