DISGRACEFUL PROCEEDINGS. (Per Press Association.) Adelaide, This Day. i At the League of Wheelmen's Carnival I on Saturday there was a large attendance ■of the public. The gathering waß chiefly interesting on account of Ken Lewis' fine win in the International Race, and the ! disqualification of Martin, the American 1 crack, in the first heat of the same event. Martin was asked for an explanation of his running, and he is alleged to have used offensive language to the Judge, who ordered him off the track. In the final of the Flying Handicap another unseemly incident occurred. When nearing the winning post a rider, (no name given) who was leading, ran very wide, and caused Martin to pull into the fence and bump himself. Martin entered a protest, and when the two men were returning to the dressing room the 1 American struck McDonnell on the face. The incident was reported to the Com-» miltee who dismissed Martin's protest and disqualified him for two months. International Scratch Race — Lewis 1, Martin 2, McDonnell 3. With a beauti* fully timed run in the last turn the winner beat Martin by two lengths. Time, 2inin 14secs. Half- Mile Flying Handicap — McDonnell 1, Meadham 2, Martin 3. Time, lmin 4secs. In the League Handicap, the final heat of which will be run on Saturday next, Don Walker lowered the record for a quarter of a mile, covering the distance in 27 seconds.
