Feeding Borough Council.

A special meeting of the Borough Council was held last evening to deal with the draft agreement between the Council and tbe Wellington gas syndicate as submitted by the sub-committee appointed for the purpose. Present — The Mayor (Mr W. A. L. Bailey), Crs Fowles, Gould, Shearer, Thomson, Bramwell, Saywell, Reid and Good behere. The draft agreement was adopted on the motion of Cr Goodbehere, and seconded by Cr Thomson, in terms as already published. The agreement provides for a concession of 9d per 1000 feet of gas for every 5s a ton reduction in coal, and for every rise of 5s per ton above tbe present price, a rise in the price of the gas of Is per 1000 feet. It is proposed by the company to supply fittings, including gas stoves, either on time payment or they will rent them to consumers. Gas will be installed at an average cost of about 10s per light.
