Bowling News.

The ceremony of opening the Pnlmerston North Bowling green took place jesterday afternoon, and despite the threatening weather attracted a large number of visiting bowlers. The Feilding Club was represented by 17 of its members ; Wellington by Mr A. Lawson, and Wanganui by Mr E. Hodren. There were a great number of ladies present who dispensed afternoon tea, and seemed to take a great interest in tbe proceedings. Precisely at 2 o'clock, His Worship the Mayor in a short speech welcomed the visitors, and also paid a well merited compliment to the committee for the excellent appearance of the green, and after " Throwing tbe Jack " declared the green open for the season. Five rinks aside were chosen between the President and Vice- Presidents, and after bd excellent game was won by the President by 108 to 93. After the game wag over a photograph was taken in a group of all present, and will be framed and hnng in the Pavillion. — Standard.
