A boy named Edward Dalton, son of Dalton, pork butcher, and who is employed as messenger at the Government Printing office, while sliding down the bannister in the Treasury buildings, dropped to the casement a distance of 30 feet. His nose and left wrist was smashed, and a hole knocked in his head above, the eyebrow. He was taken to the hospital where he died. Auckland. Oct. 1. The Chamber of Commence has passed the following resolutions :— That the Government be urged to return to the old system of telegrams, namely, urgent, ordinary and delayed, as those forms met the requirments of the public, and were entirely to their satisfaction.
