Wellington, Sept 29. The Premier announced after consultation with Bhe Prumiers of other colonies, it was decided tc postpone sending combined congratulations to the Queen until her next birthday. Mr Cadman moved the committal of the Mining Ac 5 Amendment Bill, the chief purpose of which is to establish the right of the Crown to resume freehold or leasehold Hnd fur mining purposes. Considerable debate ensued. Sir RStout, and Mossra Button, McGowan, Crowther, R. McKenzie and others taking part. The Mining Bill was read a second time. After further lengthy debate the motion for the committal of the Mining tjAcfc Amendment Bill was agreed to on rhe voices, bat progress was immediately eported. The House then went into Committee on the Adulteration Prevention Act Amendment Bill, but as considerable opposition was shown to clause 2, the: Minister eventually moved to report progress, which was carried by 34 to 14. The Municipal Corporations Aca Amendment Bill and Public Reserves Vesting and Sale Act Amendment Bill passed through. Committee and their final stages. The House rose at 1.30 a.m.
