Young Men and Boy's Club.
-o The committee met in the Club rooms last evening. The president, Mr J. Greenwood, presided. It was reported that it was expected the net return from the recent Japanese concert would be ±15. Resolved, on the motion of the Rev. Innes Jones, seconded by Mr J. Gould, That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to the Feilding Ladies Musio Club for arranging the concert in aid of the Club piano fund. Accounts amount* ing to £4 39 were passed for payment. It was statted that now the inaugoaral expenses had been met (excepting the piano account) the members' subscriptions would cover the cost of rent and cleaning, but funds would be required for other purposes. The advisability of holding another concert in aid of the piano fund was discussed, the Anal payment having to be made on December 4th. It was resolved, That Mr N. Friberg be asked to give another magic lantern entertaiment at an early date ; and the charge for admission be 3d for members, and 6d for adults. Resolved, That the ladies of the Wesleyan Church be allowed tne use of the large room for the Wesleyan anniversary tea to be held on October the 14th. The Secretary was instructed to make enquiries aa to the cost of % bagatelle board.
After the committee meeting concluded a general meeting of members was held in the large room, the President presiding. In his opening address the chairman stated there were 131 members of the dab independent of the committee, and with the latter there were 160 subscribers. He requested that no yonng children be brought to the Club for the future and stated that none but members would be allowed to attend, excepting as provided by the rales. The rules were then read and adopted. It was resolved that all subscriptions be paid in advance. The following members were added to the committee :— A Toy, E. Beade. T. Marston, N. Bray, H. Isaac, and G. Haybittle. The treasurer, Mr H. Frank* lin, read the balance-sheet, showing receipts and expenditure from the com* mencement of the dab to date, as follows : — Receipts — Members' fees, £7 17s 8d ; collection at inaugural meeting* £2 16s lOd ; contribution from Saturday Club. 13s 3d; gross proceeds concert September 9, £6 10s; collection at magic lantern exhibition by Mr Friberg, 6s 3d; tetal £17 14s. Expenditure— rent to September 7, £1 16s ; papering rooms, 18s 9d ; expenses preliminary meetings, lls ; expenses of concert £3 os ; tables, chairs, lamps, etc., £3 19s lOd; stamps, etc., 8s; gymnastic apparatus, £2 5s 9d ; printing, llfl ; credit balance, £3 18s Bd. Outstanding liabilities amounted to £4 3s, leaving a debit balance of 4s 4d. Piano accaont—subscriptions received, £11 18s; amount required to be raised by December 4, £34 18s ; total, £46 16s. To payment on account of piano, £10; bill at three months, £36 165; total L 4 6165. Against the liability of £34 18s on the piano, there will be about £15 received from the recent Japanese concert, leaving a boat £20 to be raised for this account by December 4.
