To Stand this Season in Ihe Feilding and Bangitikei Districts, The Thoroughbred Horse, HANDSOME JACK (Foaled 1890). HANDSOME JACK is a six>year» old, stoutly- built bay horse, standing 15 hands 2 1 } inches hi^h. As his name indicates, he is a handsome horse, and so fashionably bred that he is well worthy the attention of breeders. The stoutefit stmms of the English and colonial thoroHghbrod blood is blended in this horse's pedigree. It wouid appear almost unnecessary to refer further than to his tabulated pedigree under* mentioned, but the family he has de scended from are so rich in winning blood that the owner may be pardoned for ju>t mentioning a few facts perhaps not gen« ' erally knowu. HANDBO.ua Jack is by S t. Leger < the well-known winner-producing sire), whose stock have won in New Zealand since the seascn 1895-15, eighty .one races, valued at £21,672. Kadiant, who never raced, is by that stoutly- bred sireKobinson Crusoe, whose mures are so highly thought of by Australian breeders, and as Radiant is from Badiance, this makes the dam of Handsome Jack full sister to those fast horses Quadrant and Cruiser (sire of the Eangitikei bred Lorelei). Robinson Crusoe (.sire of Radiant) is full brother to that stud gem Ony.v (dnm of Nordenfoldt), and Radiance (dam of Kadiant) is by Fireworks (sire of The Mute, who is sire of the Grand National Steeplechase winner. Mutiny, and the Grand National Hurdle Kace winner, Dummy, this year), whi!e Sunshine (dam of Eadiance, is also dam of Sunrise, a very successful stallion in New South Walos. A glance at St. Hippo's pedigree, who is considered by £00 d judups to be one of the best hor?es seen in JNew Zealand of late years, will show thai: Handsome Jack has really a better pedigree, as he shows the valuable strain of Maribyrnnng; blooa!, which is absent from St. Hippo's pedigree Both horses are closely rfiated on blood lines.
